COVID-19 DATA TO KNOW

1. Educate yourself so you can help to stop rumors with your family and the people around your.

2. The federal government has advised people who are over 60 years of age and those with underlying health problems to strongly consider avoiding activities that involve large crowds, such as traveling by plane, going to movie, concerts or theaters, attending family gatherings, shopping at crowded stores and going to religious services.

3. Wash your hands, soap and water no less than 20 seconds, if in doubt you did a whole 20 seconds count again.  Right now the CDC is trying to contain it the best that they can.

4. What is COVID-19; it is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. 

5. People who are at higher risk include; people who are in contact with someone who is known to have COVID-19 (such as healthcare providers for person or family members), people who live or have recently been in an area with ongoing spread.  

6. How COVID- 19 is spread;  it spreads from person to person. This means close contact with another person (within 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.  It also may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose or possibly their eyes.  

7. Symptoms of COVID-19; fever, cough, shortness or breath. 

8. How to protect yourself: Avoid contact with people who are sick, Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with your unwashed hands, Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available. 

9. If you are sick don’t spread it.  Stay home, cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.  Avoid visits to nursing homes, hospitals and with immune compromised people.

10. If you have symptoms wear a surgical style mask to catch droplets, do not reuse mask, do not clean them with alcohol and dispose of them properly.   Follow instructions on proper mask usage.
